Foden defends England berth amid 'improving' Bellingham relationship

Phil Foden has defended his place in England's starting XI after a disappointing performance in their win over Serbia.

England began Euro 2024 with a tight 1-0 victory, in which Foden started on the left of the attack, while Jude Bellingham scored the winner from his central role.

Foden - who won the Premier League Player of the Year award for his performances for Manchester City last season - says his relationship with Bellingham is improving ahead of Thursday's meeting with Denmark.

"Jude’s obviously an exceptional talent," said Foden. "He carries himself really well. I think he’s turning into a leader.

"I think our link-up play is good at times and I think it's improving as well, and can keep getting better. So he's an exciting talent and I enjoy playing with him."
